Yorkshire Dales Accommodation ! Who Stays at Ashes Farm?

One of the questions we get asked most often at Ashes Farm is:"What kind of guests do you have, and do they all come just to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks?"

It’s a great question — and the answer might surprise you! Over the recent bank holiday weekend, we kept a little log of our guests, where they came from, and what they did during their stay. The result? A wonderful mix of people from near and far, all enjoying the Yorkshire Dales accommodation in their own way.

Here’s a little snapshot of the long weekend:

🥾 Dirk & Friend – From Germany to Grassington

Dirk and his friend stayed just one night as part of a 4-day walking tour of the Dales. After a good night's rest and a hearty Full English breakfast with poached eggs, they continued their journey on foot to Grassington.

🚂 Mark & Nancy – A Mini Tour from the USA

All the way from America, Mark and Nancy spent two nights with us while exploring northern England. They hopped on the train at Ribblehead Station, visiting Appleby before continuing on to Carlisle. Breakfast favourites? Baked green eggs and poached eggs on toast — two mornings in a row!

🌄 Pauline & Paul – A Peaceful Stopover

This lovely couple were passing through the Dales on a longer holiday. They stayed just one night, but left feeling like they’d been here for days thanks to the peaceful surroundings, dual-aspect room views, and a warm welcome.Their 5-star Airbnb review said it all:

“We had a great night’s sleep in the very comfortable bed and were well rested for our onward journey… Highly recommend the Station Inn at the Ribblehead Viaduct — staff so friendly and food just brilliant.”

🏃 Gary – Runs, Waterfalls & Homemade Cookies

Gary, from Halifax, stayed three nights in our self-catering cottage. He went running each day and explored the Ingleton Waterfall Trail, a local favourite. He also kindly left us a 5-star review:

“The cottage was lovely and clean, plus the homemade cookies went down well. Look forward to returning again soon.”

🥾 Joshua & Partner – Peaks & Appleby

Visiting from Hull, Joshua and his partner walked Whernside and then took the train to Appleby. They stayed two nights and enjoyed four Full English breakfasts with scrambled eggs. Energy well spent! He kindly left us a 5-star review:

" The location was scenic and the property is located in a beautiful area. Any needs were met immediately, even if it was asking for something as small odd as hair straighteners. Breakfast was lovely and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed. The room was spotless and quaint. Zero faults and more included than advertised. Overall a fantastic experience with wonderful hosts."

🥚 Mike & Amy from Sussex – Waterfalls and Full English

On a mini tour that included York, Mike stayed two nights and walked the Ingleton Waterfall Trail. His favourite part of the day? Four Full English breakfasts with fried eggs.

💧 Robert from Selby – Waterfall Wonders

Robert also came for the Ingleton Waterfall Trail and stayed two nights. He started his day with a Full English and poached eggs — just the thing before a day outdoors.

🏞️ Christine – Three Peaks Challenger

Christine stayed in one of our lovely lodges and completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge during her time here. The lodge was the perfect base to rest and recharge.

👨‍👦 Paul & Grandson – Exploring Together

Paul and his grandson spent two nights in a lodge while discovering the local area. We were thrilled to receive a glowing 10/10 review on Booking.com from them!

🥣 Tamsin & Hugh – Value, Views & a Delicious Breakfast
