May in the Yorkshire Dales – What's On and What to Explore

It can still be chilly this month, but wait for a warm May day and you’ll think you’re in heaven if you take a stroll along one of our many valley bottom walks. The grass will have greened up, spring flowers will be in full bloom along the banks and in the woods, the fields will be full of lambs playing and there will be meadow pipits and skylarks singing their hearts out in the skies above. It’s a magical time of year to get out and explore!

Try Something New – Geocaching Adventures

May is a great time to try your hand at geocaching. Geocaching is like a modern-day treasure hunt using GPS or a smartphone to find hidden containers (called geocaches) in interesting places. It's a fun way to get outside, discover new trails, and explore hidden corners of the Yorkshire Dales you might never have found otherwise. Near Ashes Farm, there are geocaches hidden around the Ribblehead Viaduct, Ingleborough, and Settle Loop – perfect for walkers and adventurers of all levels.
